The Progresses of William Hogarth

An entertaining evening was held at the University of Buckingham on 28th January in aid of the Cancer Care & Haematology Fund. The sum of £3000 was raised.

Three progresses of William Hogarth were on display, A Harlots Progress, The Rakes Progress and Marriage a la Mode from the collection of Nicholas Radclyffe who gave an amusing talk highlighting the narrative structure of the progresses and the topical allusions within each of the prints.

Owing to the great generosity of Mr & Mrs Philip Menday who provided all the refreshments, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buckingham, Dr Terence Kealey who allowed the Fund to use the Examination Suite at the University and Nicholas Radclyffe’s generous gift of a Hogarth print for the raffle, all the funds raised were given to the Appeal for the extension of the Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and support for that Unit.
